Beautiful Giant Polished Megalodon Shark Tooth

This is a giant polished Megalodon tooth. Because it has been exposed to sand and gravel for many years, the blade has been ground and polished to a glossy shine. It measures just under 4″ long and over 3-1/2″ wide.  The root is in great condition. I found it diving recently in 100 feet of water near Wilmington NC. The Megalodon was the largest and most powerful predator ever to have lived in the ocean. This prehistoric shark could have grown to about 60 feet (18 meters) in length and had a bite force that far exceeded that of any known animal, including the Tyrannosaurus rex. The Megalodon’s diet likely consisted of whales, dolphins, seals, and other large marine mammals. Its teeth, could reach over 7 inches (18 cm) in length, The Megalodon is thought to have gone extinct around 3.6 million years ago, possibly due to changes in the marine environment and competition with other predators. I find the teeth that I sell SCUBA diving along the East Coast of the US in 40 to over 100 feet of water.
