The benedini is often referred as a false Mako shark but it is not related to the Mako shark. It is called this because the tooth is sometimes confused with a lower Mako tooth because the size and shape can be similar. It is far more rare than most common types of teeth that I find. This is a very nice benedini tooth with complete root and enamel. I found it diving recently near Savannah GA. This tooth will not fit on any of my display stands because of the shape of the root.
